Our research concentrates upon the systemic level of human physiology. We study the cardiovascular and metabolic systems, and adaptive responses thereof, under various conditions like gravitational (orthostatic) stress, simulated microgravity, and spaceflight. We measure hemodynamic, blood volume dependent, and hormonal variables, and determine corresponding parameters like autonomic nervous indices, baroreflex sensitivity and effectiveness. Also, we determine tissue impedance to derive body fluid volumes.
