Andreas started his scientific career as recently as 1999. He
started studying at the University at the age of 26, due to his second chance
education and industrial work. Since 1999 he participated in leading positions in 29 R&D
multi-national projects
with a total budget of 2,8 MEUR, to date author and editor of 300+ publications, 2118 citations, h-index = 24, g-Index = 39

and provided 200+ lectures and talks (as of 01/2012).
Andreas was Visiting
Professor of Medical Information and Knowledge Management at the Nations Health Career Center, Berlin, Germany (02/03);
Visiting Professor at Innsbruck University, Institute for Organization &
Learning (winter term 04/05); Visiting Professor at Vienna University of Technology,
Institute for Software Technology & Interactive Systems (winter term 05/06);
Visiting Professor at Middlesex University London (UK), School of
Computing Science (summer term 07); Visiting Professor at the RWTH Aachen
University,
e-Health Group, and he is Visiting Professor at Vienna
University of Business and Economics, Health Information and Knowledge
Management (since winter term 06/07).
Andreas is currently head of the Research Unit HCI4MED, Institute of Medical Informatics,
Statistics and Documentation (IMI), Medical University Graz; Associate Professor (Univ.-Doz.) of Information Processing at the Institute of
Information Systems and Computer Media (IICM), Faculty of Informatics,
Graz University of Technology, and Lecturer at the
Institute for Genomics
and Bioinformatics at the Faculty of Electrical and Information
Engineering of Graz University of Technology. He is chair of the Workgroup
Human–Computer Interaction and Usability Engineering (HCI&UE) of the
Austrian Computer Society (OCG). He is founder and leader of the Special
Interest Groups HCI4MED and HCI4EDU and since November 2009 Austrian
Representative in the International Federation of Information Processing
(IFIP), Technical Committee TC 13 Human-Computer Interaction HCI.
Andreas, born 1963, married, two
children, started his career as apprentice in Information Technology (IT) in 1978, finishing as
Radio- and Television Technician (1981); Foreman in Industrial Electronics
(1983); College of Further Education Bournemouth (UK) with honors in
Computer Science (1985/86); After extensive industrial experience, during
which he attended evening classes, he was awarded Chartered Engineer
for Communications and Information Technology (CEng, 1990); Diploma as Lecturer for Adult Education (DipEd,
1992); Studies of Communication and Information Engineering (BEng, 1993), Physics and
Psychology (MSc, 1995) as well as Media Pedagogy and Sociology (MPh, 1996)
at Graz University of Technology and Graz University. Doctoral promotion
with summa cum laude in Cognitive Science (PhD, 1997). Second Doctorate
(Habilitation, venia docendi) in Information Processing, Faculty of
Computer Science, Graz University of Technology (Assoc. Prof., 2003).
